When it comes to custom tailoring in Khao Lak, you will find many tailor shops today. However, this was not the situation 15–20 years ago. At that time, there were only a few experienced tailors in the area. Some have since closed, while others moved back to Phuket. Many of those tailors originally came from Phuket and were recommended by well-known travel agencies such as TUI, Wing, and Kouni. They built their reputation on genuine quality and craftsmanship.
In recent years, the number of tailor shops in Khao Lak has increased rapidly. Many new shops are opened by people with little or no tailoring experience. Some enter the business simply because they have limited job options. As a result, customers are often given incorrect information about fabrics and quality.
One common example is the claim of “cashmere suits” at extremely low prices. In reality, genuine cashmere wool is a premium material that can cost more than $2,000 per yard. It is simply not possible to produce a real cashmere suit for $99, let alone offer 3–4 pieces at that price. These kinds of offers are misleading and are often used to attract customers into the shop.
It is also common to see staff approaching customers on the street, trying to bring them inside with special deals or persuasive stories based on these unrealistic offers.
Mark One Tailor is different.
We believe in honesty, transparency, and quality workmanship. We provide clear and accurate information about fabrics and tailoring, so our customers can make informed decisions. Whether you choose to buy from us or not, we do not mislead or pressure anyone.
At Mark One Tailor, our goal is to build long-term trust, not just make a quick sale.
